Whether for a birthday celebration, to celebrate an anniversary or for a reunion with friends and family, Belton House is a great place to stay with a large sociable living area at its heart where all of your party can be seated around one table.  The bar in the living area is bound to be a hit with groups of friends or family too, as will the Sky TV and music system!  There is also a lounge with a warming woodburner so there is plenty of sociable living space for your friends and family to enjoy at this welcoming holiday house.   Free internet access is available in main living areas. The stylish roomy kitchen is well equipped, making for easy self-catering.

Wanlockhead

Wanlockhead is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, nestling in the Lowther Hills and one mile south of Leadhills at the head of the Mennock Pass, which forms part of the Southern Uplands.

Museum of Lead Mining The ore-field around Wanlockhead is the most important lead-zinc and mineral deposit in Scotland. The award-winning Lead Mining Museum is only 2 minutes walk from the house. It has a mine, cottages and library tour and you can also try your hand at panning for gold! The museum has a small shop and great cafe, for coffees or lunch. Group discounts available Drumlanrig Castle, 20 minutes drive from Wanlockhead, is set within the Queensberry Estate and is the home of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry. Narrow Gauge Railway - Leadhills The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway is Britain�s highest narrow gauge adhesion railway, reaching 1500feet above sea level. New Lanark World Heritage Site A great day trip is New Lanark World Heritage Site, about 30 mins drive away just next to Lanark. New Lanark is a fully restored 18th Century Cotton Mill village with an award winning visitor centre and various exhibitions. It is also next to the Falls of Clyde, where a short forest walk leads to spectacular waterfalls.

Recommended Places to Visit: Moffat is another nearby town, about 35 minutes drive away. It is the home of the famous �Moffat Toffee� and it has a lovely river walk, playpark, boating pond, shops, cafes, pubs/restaurants etc. The town of Biggar is also only about 25 minutes drive away where there is a good golf course, play-park, puppet theatre and museums as well as lots of lovely shops, cafes and pubs.
